Deepal, the new energy vehicle (NEV) unit of Changan Automobile, has revealed aggressive 2024 sales targets and has begun efforts to enter international markets.

Deepal aims to sell 450,000 units globally in 2024, the brand’s CEO Deng Chenghao said on Weibo today.

The brand plans to launch two new models next year, Deng added.

Deepal currently sells the SL03 range of sedans, and the S7 range of SUVs, and both are available in extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.

Deepal delivered 15,513 vehicles in October, up 143 percent year-on-year but down 10.69 percent from September, data it released earlier this month showed.

In the January-October period, Deepal delivered 102,417 vehicles.

Deepal’s two models will be officially unveiled in Thailand today, marking an important step in the brand’s globalization, Deng said in the Weibo post this morning.

For reasons including registration, the SL03 will be rebranded as the L07 in Thailand and the S7 will be rebranded as the S07, Deng said.

Deepal will next continue to build globalized models and accelerate its entry into ASEAN and European markets, he said.

Deepal is the NEV brand launched by Changan in 2022. It officially launched the Deepal SL03 on July 25 last year, a competitor to the Tesla Model 3, with deliveries starting in September last year.

The Deepal S7, which competes with the Tesla Model Y, was officially launched in China on June 25 and deliveries began on June 30.

Deepal’s goal for 2023 is to sell 200,000 vehicles, Deng said in an interview with Auto Home in April.

Despite the brand’s relatively short history, it has become one of the most recognizable NEV manufacturers in China.

Zeekr, Deepal, and Nio (NYSE: NIO) are the NEV brands that offer the best customer experience in China, according to a survey released August 24 by US market researcher JD Power.
