General Motors reports 674,336 vehicle deliveries during the third quarter of 2023 in the United States, which is 21 percent more than a year ago. The total volume so far this year amounted to 1,969,522 (up 19 percent year-over-year). The all-electric vehicle sales are also growing in the US, but both the volume (especially Ultium-based models) and the year-over-year growth rate are considered disappointing. In Q3, the company delivered 20,092 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), which is 33 percent more than a year ago, but still less than in the record first quarter of this year (20,670). Such volume represents about 3.0…
The Ford F-150 Lightning Flash might sound like a special version of the electric pickup that accelerates quicker or charges faster. But it’s merely a new trim level of the Lightning lineup. The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash is pitched by Ford as a “tech-focused” proposition for shoppers, and positioned between the XLT and Lariat trims, with the Platinum and Platinum Black versions at the top. The Flash gets the larger 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and it includes Bang & Olufsen sound, a wireless smartphone charger, and an enhanced entry system. The Flash, priced at $72,090 including destination, is only…
When it comes to bicycle technology, Sram is a brand that has gained the trust of a wide range of cyclists all over the world. Its products have always been about performance, and its top-range drivetrains sit on the bleeding edge of technology. However, in the e-bike space, Sram has been outdone by other prominent names, namely Shimano and Bosch. That is, until now. Sram has just made its entry into the e-bike powertrain game, and has dropped a bombshell that’s sure to leave tech-obsessed e-bikers drooling. Now, Sram aficionados can equip their bikes with all-Sram equipment—from the motor, to…

The rare precious metal iridium is a key ingredient in the electrolyzer systems used to produce green hydrogen. “Rare” is the key word. The market for green hydrogen is growing, and analysts expect that electrolyzer demand will soon outstrip the supply of iridium-juiced systems. That may suit commodity speculators, at least for the time being. As for the long run, workarounds are already emerging and the US Department of Energy is on the case. Green Hydrogen Hearts Iridium… Green hydrogen refers to hydrogen produced…
Tesla and Rivian update on sales. The remains of Lordstown Motors get flipped back to a familiar face. And Volvo gives its smallest EV a very attractive price tag. This and more, here at Green Car Reports. Volvo has confirmed that its EX30 EV will start at $36,245 for the U.S., with deliveries expected to start next summer. That makes it a rival to models like the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, and even the Chevy Bolt EV, but with a luxury badge. Monday two U.S. EV makers provided production and delivery numbers, albeit at very different scale. Tesla…
Volvo has revealed U.S. pricing for its compact, Chinese-made electric car, the EX30. The 2025 Volvo EX30 will come in Core, Plus, and Ultra versions for the U.S., with all but the Core offered in a choice of single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions. The base EX30 Core, which is single-motor only, will start at $36,245, including the $1,295 destination charge. All versions of the EX30 have a suite of advanced safety features including blind-spot monitors, and its interface is based around Google Built-In, meaning it revolves around native Google services like Maps—although wireless Apple CarPlay is supported. If Volvo…
The MG Cyberster is really a new chapter in what an MG sports car is. This review is done by ChinaDriven, which creates content about Chinese EVs on YouTube & Twitter. The MG Cyberster is actually nearly here. After what seems like years of drip feeding, it’s launch is imminent. We finally got the chance to jump behind the wheel and put it through its paces. Exciting times for EVs as manufactures start producing more exciting cars. I’ll refrain from harking on about MG’s heritage as I think it’s a disservice to the Mg Cyberster. This thoroughly modern EV roadster…
Could riders hoping to get their motorcycle license soon be able to take the exam on an electric bike? That’s the case in Belgium after a new policy goes into effect, and it could spread elsewhere. Class 3 e-bikes that can reach up to 28 mph (45 km/h) are common in the US, and they don’t require any special license to ride them. But in much of Europe, these fast electric bicycles are considered to be their own class of “speed pedelecs” and fall under limited regulation including requiring a license plate and an AM license. An AM license is…
In September, BYD set its fifth consecutive plug-in electric car sales record, further approaching a level of 300,000 units a month. According to the company’s report, last month, BYD passenger plug-in car sales amounted to 286,903 (including 13,156 Denza premium EVs), which is 43 percent more than a year ago. The overwhelming majority of BYD sales are in China, while exports stand for several percent of the total result. It’s worth paying close attention not only to the consistently increasing volume but also to the growth rate, which is decreasing quite consistently. The scale is probably too big to continue the…
