Solar giant Qcells announced today that it’s completed the expansion of its Dalton, Georgia, factory – what it calls the “largest manufacturing plant of its kind in the western hemisphere.” It’s also the first solar panel factory to be built since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. Qcells has added 2 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity to its Dalton factory, bringing its full output to more than 5.1 GW. This is the third time the factory has expanded after opening in 2019. In its Q3 financial report, Tesla displayed an interesting map of the United States with Model Y starting prices when deducting national and state-level subsidies. The main nationwide incentive is the $7,500 federal tax credit, for which the Tesla Model Y qualifies. In the case of particular states, another few thousand dollars could be saved. The manufacturers note that not all consumers are eligible for all subsidies, so let’s treat the numbers as potential figures. The new entry-level Tesla Model Y RWD starts at an MSRP of $43,990, while the Long Range AWD and Performance versions recently become slightly more…
He didn’t use the words “Production Hell,” specifically. But when you hear Tesla CEO Elon Musk talk about the Cybertruck at today’s Q3 2023 earnings call, you almost get the same vibes. Musk opened today’s call by not only announcing the company’s latest financial results – which saw its 16th consecutively profitable quarter dampened by price cuts and factory downtime – but also being circumspect about its new stainless-steel EV pickup truck. “I just want to temper expectations for Cybertruck,” Musk said. “It’s a great product, but financially, it will take a year to 18 months before it is a…

A Kia America spokesman then confirmed this information is accurate to InsideEVs. And it’s going to be good news for buyers. Slotting between the EV6’s Light and Wind trims, the 2024 Kia EV6…

The Kia EV6 offers its longest-range version for less money. BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce drivers will soon get Tesla Supercharger access. And GM slows the production ramp of its electric trucks by a year. This and more, here at Green Car Reports Scaled-up production of the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV has been delayed by a whole year, GM announced Tuesday. The company’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan, set for that volume production but currently building the Chevy Bolt EV, won’t get any extension to build more of those efficient small electric cars, though. Drivers of BMW, Mini,…
After revealing plans to issue another $1.5 billion in convertible debt, concerns about Rivian’s (RIVN) financial health have risen. The EV maker’s CEO, RJ Scaringe, explained that the debt offering creates an additional buffer rather than reflecting concerns over cash. Rivian revealed in an 8K filing earlier this month that it plans to offer $1.5 billion in green convertible senior notes. The debt offering comes after a $1.3 billion capital raise in March. The fundraising caused Rivian shares to plummet as investors questioned the EV maker’s financial health. A day before the announcement, Scaringe told CNBC’s Squawk Box that Rivian…
