Tesla has leaked upcoming new sports seats for the Model S Plaid through its service manual. When it comes to having performance versions of its vehicles, Tesla primarily makes suspension and brake upgrades. Often, it doesn’t even change the powertrain. It stays the same, but its software locks capabilities in cheaper versions and unlocks them for the performance versions in order to achieve faster acceleration and top speed. It results in minimal hardware differences between versions – streamlining vehicle production. Last week, we learned that Tesla was working on new “sport seats” for the updated Model 3 Performance. With all of the headwinds EVs are facing in recent weeks, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: affordability is a giant factor. With inflation kicking families in the butt at grocery stores, economic challenges leading to lower or lost pay, and interest rates climbing, car buyers are feeling the squeeze. People simply can’t afford as much of a monthly payment as they did before, and at the same time, that monthly payment doesn’t buy as much car (because more of it goes to interest).…

So far, that assumption has held true, because the company has been too busy building out its own charging network to even consider selling any of the stations. Plus, until recently, Tesla’s charging hardware only worked with Tesla’s cars, so it would have been pointless for anyone else to buy them. But, things have changed. First, Tesla opened up the design of the company’s proprietary connector, calling it…
