Fisker announced a new milestone of delivering more than 100 electric cars in a single day, which is expected to further increase in the coming weeks. Terabase Energy has successfully completed its first commercial solar installation using Terafab, its automatic solar-installing robot. Solar-installing robot The Terafab robot – aka the “construction automation platform” – installed 17 megawatts (MW) of the 225 MW White Wing Ranch project in Yuma County, Arizona, on which solar tech company Terabase Energy is working alongside developer Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) and contractor RES. The Terafab robot completely eliminates the manual lifting of heavy steel tubes and solar panels – an industry first. The situation at the Volkswagen Group’s largest electric car factory in Zwickau, Germany appears to be worsening. After numerous reports of demand issues earlier this year, Volkswagen cancelled the third shift on production line number 1, which is responsible for the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born models. The move was already expected at least since September (in October, there was a two-week halt of production) because there are not enough customers for the MEB-based hatchbacks in Europe. General Motors has announced that it has absorbed BrightDrop, its electric commercial vehicle subsidiary that had been its wholly owned subsidiary since January 2021. Born from GM’s Innovation Lab, BrightDrop has acted as a tech startup within General Motors and had operational freedom over the past three years, but starting November 16 it is being integrated “even tighter” into the parent company. “Starting today, BrightDrop will become part of GM. Toyota and battery-recycling firm Redwood Materials on Thursday announced an expansion of their previous agreement that will see Toyota source battery materials from Redwood for future battery production. Toyota announced plans to work with Redwood on recycling of battery materials in June 2022. But it’s now confirming plans to also source recycled material for battery production from Redwood, which earlier this year received a $2 billion loan from the Department of Energy to expand its operations.
